Asteya is one aspect of the first limb of the Eight Limbs of Yoga; the yogic guidelines for moral and ethical self conduct and self-study that can help a person live a meaningful and purposeful life.
Asteya means non-stealing and the meaning is more than just physical. It is also energetic and it includes not stealing from yourself. It's possible to steal someone's peace, happiness, love, recognition, determination, experience, etc.
When you think you should be somewhere other than where you are or when you want what someone else has, you are stealing the present moment from yourself. You cannot be present in your own experience because you are too busy looking outside of yourself for answers.
Give yourself a life of true connection and truly feeling alive by learning how to become fully present in your own body and experience.
